Frequently Asked Questions

Hello all!

Thought I would do a quick post to help any questions that are normally asked when it comes to having your wedding filmed. I hope this helps and if I've missed anything off then feel free to get in touch!

How often can we keep in touch during the wedding planning?

As often as you like! Instagram is a great tool for this, I always say to my couples that once you've booked me follow me on there and I will follow you back. It's a great way to keep in contact throughout the run up. I want you both to get to know me as much as possible so that when it comes to the wedding itself, I won't feel like a complete stranger.

What equipment do you use?

3 Canon 4k Cameras, all equipped with quality microphones. During your ceremony and speeches two cameras are on tripods whilst I run around with my R6 on a gimbal or monopod. I use a sound recorder to capture any ambient sound for the day and lapel microphones for the ceremony and speeches. I spend most of the day on my gimbal to capture the smooth shots but then when it comes to the evening I will film handheld to capture the dance floor vibe, I also use a spotlight for the evening to make sure the dance floor is well lit.

How long are you normally there on the wedding day?

Usually I arrive 2 hours prior to the ceremony. This allows enough time to capture everyone getting ready and the guests arriving. I am a big believer in making the morning an event in itself though to build up the day so if anything specific is planned for the morning I am open to arriving earlier. I then stay filming right through to the evening, the dancing shots are my favourite so I never leave until I feel I have enough footage to create a fantastic wedding film.

Can we pick our own music for the film?

I use MusicBed to licence all music that I use in my films. This allows me to make sure that nothing will get muted once it goes online which can often be the case if you use copyrighted music. I do like to pick this music myself, it's a decision taken off your hands when you have so much to decide already and it gives me creative freedom to make a film that I feel will match my vision when I film your wedding. I do always ask my couples to give me a list of music that you both love to listen to and also music that you don't like to listen to. This helps me to make sure that I'm using the right genre of music that I believe you would enjoy when watching your wedding back.

Do we get a copy of the raw footage?

I do not supply raw footage from any wedding that I film. It feels off for me to give an unfinished product away and I include as much as possible in the films that I never feel this is something I need to offer.

Are you insured?

Yes, always happy to provide my Public Liability Insurance when needed. My husband who is my drone guy is also fully licensed and insured to fly and again more than happy to send the paperwork over when needed.

How long is the final film?

This is very dependant on how long your ceremony and speeches are but it can vary from 5 - 12 minutes long.

How long until we get our film?

I will provide a 1 minute sneak peak within two weeks of your wedding. You will then receive your final film usually within twelve weeks after your wedding. This can take longer during peak times. I understand that it's frustrating to wait so long and I imagine that your photos will come back a lot quicker. There is so much that goes into editing films, from sound design, to colour grading, to stitching it all together to tell your story can be rather time consuming. I assure you though, it will be worth the wait and isn't something that should be rushed.
